Happy Birthday to Me?

Last week felt like my birthday. I worked in New Mexico for 3 days and when I came home there was a present neatly wrapped in pink and purple polka dot paper laying on the entryway desk. On the top it read in Sharpy marker, "Happy Mother's Day..." with a sweet note following. (This was a week and a half before Mother's Day by the way. He obviously couldn't wait.) I looked at my husband who had pulled Rylan out of daycare early to welcome me home and he just smiled and said, "It's just a little gift. It was only like 10 dollars. " I looked at him suspiciously as he eagerly placed it in my hands and asked me to sit down and open it. I have to mention that this was one day before Matt's birthday. Matt always seems to give me gifts around his birthday. I'm not sure why. I think he simply gets more pleasure giving than receiving. Anyways, so I slowly unwrapped the gift wondering what he could have possibly gotten me for 10 dollars when I see the word "NIKON" across the box!!! What??? I have wanted a really nice camera since we got married 5 years ago and here it was in my hands! I couldn't believe it! Matt got me a Nikon D5000 and photography classes to go with it!

And just when I thought my day couldn't get any better I get a text message from my girlfriend Adrienne that read something like this, "Call me!!!! It's about Oprah!!!!" I called her right away to find out that she had gotten tickets to the Oprah show and we needed to book flights for Chicago immediately! Five days later I'm on a plane to Chicago for two days! It was an amazing, once in a lifetime experience. We ate Chicago style deep dish pizza, toured most of the city on foot, saw the movie "Eat, Pray, Love" three months prior to it's release date (thanks to Oprah!) and sat about 15 feet from Oprah Winfrey as she interviewed one of my favorite actresses of all time Julia Roberts. So cool!
